H.S. students raise awareness for cancer with facial hair

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

Stubble is definitely "in" at Hume Fogg Magnet school.

"Everybody wants that manly look," senior Kevin Flores told Nashville's News 2.

"It gets you a lot of respect, a lot of social points," added Student Government President Taylor Bates.

A group of?students calling themselves "Hume Fuzz" are participating in a worldwide men's health movement called "Movember."

They are putting down their razors and letting their whiskers grow to new lengths while raising awareness for prostate cancer.

For senior Eli Orland, it's an issue that hits close to home. His father was diagnosed with prostate cancer during his freshman year. His father has been cancer free for almost three year.

"I can't imagine losing him, and I'm very grateful that there was help available to fix all of this," said Orland.

Orland?is now committed to raising awareness for the disease that nearly claimed his father.

"The biggest challenge is awareness," said Orland.

Hume Fuzz will be raising money and awareness through "Movember."
