Canadian Auto Workers: Moving Camaro Production to Michigan is an "Assault on Canada"

GM's recent announcement that they'll be buying back company shares and will no longer be unofficially referred to as "Government Motors" is only one part of their plan to reclaim independence; the automaker also indicated their intentions to move production of the next-gen Camaro from Ontario, Canada to the Lansing Grand River Assembly Plant in Lansing, Michigan.?

But not everyone-- namely, Canadian auto workers-- are happy about the move to make American cars more American. Canadian Auto Workers President Ken Lewenza calls the plans an "assault on Canada." Meanwhile, General Motors has clarified that the decision to pull production of the 100,000 or so Camaros from the Ottowa plant (which accounts for 25 to 30 percent of its total volume) was made before the state's right-to-work law was passed, and that the decision was based on lower capital investment and improved production efficiencies.
